Bringing in the New Year with a Visitor from TX

This week has been a fun one! Our friend and Justin's (& my) cousin, Cody was in town for a visit. We loved showing him Colorado, bringing in the New Year together and just hanging out with his easy-going-self. Breck also really loved having his Uncle Cody here....they were fast buds! We look forward to more visits and hopefully one day in the future, a trip to Texas. Thought I'd share a short recap of each day's ventures along with some pictures, of course.

Day 1: Drove through Boulder and onto the teeny town of Nederland, Co where we've fallen in love with Buffalo Bill's Coffee & Confections inside old train cars and the Carousel of Happiness next door to it. The night consisted of the earlier 9pm-family fireworks display in downtown Denver for New Year's Eve. It was definitely chilly, but worth it!

Day 2: We slept in, relaxed, walked the mall and just took it easy.....

Day 3: Drove to Colorado Springs, Co to see....Pikes Peak....& Garden of the God's. Beautiful day! Absolutely gorgeous and Majestic Mountains! The Summit of Pikes Peak sits at an elevation of over 14,000 ft. and that day it was a windchill of -27 F...COLD! Needless to say, Breckie boy had to stay in the car for that stop. He did however get to walk around at Garden of the God's and enjoyed leading Daddy around before taking a nap on the way home.

Day 4: Another rest and recoup day...the boys enjoyed some video game time and after complaining of onions burning their eyes from my cooking, I had a great solution: Ski goggles. ;)

Day 5: Our last day with Cody before he headed back to San Antonio! We stopped in Golden, Co on the way to Breckenridge to take the free tour of the Coors Brewery. It was actually pretty interesting and I now know the smell of toasted Barley, bluuuck! They got to try a free sample of some fresh beer and I opted for a root beer because well, I simply do NOT have a taste for any sort of beer. Not a fan.  Breck enjoyed a nice cold lemonade and made sure Cody got his exercise in for the day....walking everywhere. Breckenridge was nice, but cold. We ate a late lunch, shopped a bit, tried on some crazy hats then headed for home! Great last day!

  1. These pictures are gorgeous! I feel like I'm there again! I'm sure it was really chilly but it looks like it was also beautiful clear skies most days -which makes nice for all that travel and all those BREATHTAKING views! Only an Master Artist like the one and only true living God and King of heaven and earth could be responsible for creating such beauty! You know I never went to Coors now that I think about it, Joe took Joel when he came to visit us. Now a Corona Brewery -and I would have HAD to checked that out, hehe ;)

Breckie trooper boy gets the gold medal for being such a sport and tiny adventurer! I'm amazed at his contentment for long car rides -what a blessing! He looks so handsome in those jeans of his :) And I love seeing the wonderment of joy in his sweet eyes as he took in the firecrackers!

I probably look at this post many of times -it's full of my favorite smiles and such AWESOME pictures!!!

  2. From Your Aunt Tippy: Loved all these pictures! My favorites were the family pic,the two pics of y'all looking at fireworks indvidually with the little man, and the ultimate, crashing with Lambie in the carseat! The scenery is breathtaking. I was so glad to hear of Cody coming for a visit. I know that was a refreshing treat for the family. It was also so neat how Breck reacted to him, a great host to his Uncle Cody. Love y'all
