A Colorado Christmas

Well, we kicked off our Christmas holiday by going to the Christmas Eve-Eve service on Sunday since we wouldn't be able to make it to the actual Christmas Eve service as Justin wouldn't be off work in time. It was a beautiful service full of joy and celebration. Our favorite part was the precious little off-key children's choir. Their sweet gleaming faces just radiated joy and pride over the hard work they put into the performance. We are so grateful we found Calvary Chapel!

Although Justin had to work Christmas Eve, he did get off earlier which was nice. We gulped up the homemade potato soup my family traditionally makes for Christmas Eve....the kind with bacon, chives and cheese, so yum! Before tucking our sweet boy into his crib, we set out milk and cookies for Santa and let Breck open just one gift. He didn't quite grasp the idea of unwrapping, but was most definitely thrilled over his new wooden Thomas train. What little toddler boy doesn't like Thomas? We finished the evening with a movie while watching the absolutely magical snow dust the tops of cars and sidewalks. Such a sight to see for us former Texas folk!

Christmas morning came and we all eventually made our way to the kitchen for a quick breakfast and coffee made by my faithful french press before unwrapping gifts. It was a true "white" Christmas with the outside covered in a blanket of white snow, such a treat! It was a joy to watch Breck open his new tonka trucks, wooden train, puzzle, bath books & squirters and a few other fun things we knew he would love, but we both agreed it was plenty enough and couldn't imagine much more gifts than that. Kiddos don't really need all that much, honestly. I mean Jesus technically only got three gifts and He is the King of Kings. Besides, before it was all said and done he was completely wiped out and in need of a nap to recover. The rest of the day consisted of snuggles, ham and the fixings, more snuggles and lots of play time! It was a simple and sweet holiday together and one we will always remember. Although we were away from family this year, we felt such peace in our hearts in celebrating our Sweet Savior's birth. What a forever gift!

Happy birthday, Jesus
I'm so glad it's Christmas
All the tinsel and lights
And the presents are nice
But the real gift is You

We hope your Christmas was a beautiful one filled with sweet memories and saturated in God's never-ending love! We have our first visitor (Justin's cousin, Cody) coming in just a few short days and we are delighted to get to show him this gorgeous state and bring in 2013 together!

XO,
Court

Breck looks so precious taking in his new toys, all the pictures are such great captures! Today I tied a long shoelace around that train's orange whistle and was pulling it all over the house -Hugh was fascinated. :)
